To celebrate the upcoming NANIWA Day, the members talk about keywords related to the letters “NA”, “NI” and “WA”!
Takahashi Kyohei
NA - NAGASE REN
I can’t wait for his drama, “Shin Shinchokoki”! It’s really emotional from a Naniwa Oji standpoint, since he’s acting with Daigo-kun. I think Ren-kun’s Nobunaga will be super kick-ass.
NI - NISHIHATA DAIGO
It’s rare to see Daigo-kun dye his hair for a role. When I saw the drama trailer, he had unbuttoned his shirt and was wearing a jangly necklace, which looked so flashy and is totally opposite to the regular Daigo-kun. I look forward to it!
WA - WANI (Crocodile/Alligator)
I want to try fighting an alligator. Recently, I’ve been thinking about it 5 times a week. Before I go to bed, I simulate the fight before I sleep! It has a long tail, so I’ll go behind it and grab it by the tail. That’s my strategy (laughs).

NA - NAITA (Cried)
On the day when we filmed the opening video for our concert, I watched a certain PV and cried so hard. If my eyes looked red during the opening video, please think, “Oh, he shot this after he cried.” (laughs)
NI - NIKU (Meat)
I went for yakiniku by myself yesterday! I had meat the day before too, and also ate yakiniku the day before that. So I practically had meat the entire week. The weather is hot every day so I need to increase my stamina!
WA - WANDAFURU BOY (Wonderful Boy)
It was my manager’s birthday, and they said they had no plans so we went for a meal together. As they ate, they said, “I’ve never eaten something like this before!” (laughs) It felt good to see them eating so heartily.

NA - NAMBA
Slug? Natto? Eggplant? Namu Amida Butsu [1]? Nigeria? [2] Ah… Namba! It’s been a while, so I want to there. I hardly have time to relax when I’m in Osaka, so I want to hang out with the Fukumoto (Taisei) gang~
NI - NYUSU NO TOUR TITLE (NEWS’ Tour Title)
I think the tour title “音楽 [3]” is really cool. Although many groups choose to give their tours English titles, they chose to do it in kanji. Moreover, they named it “音楽”. I think it’s nice that they once again chose to uplift something basic.
WA - WANPIISU (One Piece)
It’s a manga that I love. The new movie is coming out soon, so I can hardly wait. It’s a manga that has many fans, so I naturally talk about One Piece with many celebrities during my breaks at work.

NA - NANDE KONNA KOTO NI (How did it turn out like that?)
I made oatmeal cookies for the first time in my life the other day, and brought them to my drama set. However, they looked so terrible that the people on set asked, “Is this beef tongue?” The cookies were panned by everyone (cries).
NI - NIKU (Meat)
I had a severe craving for meat after work, so recently I would often go for yakiniku with my manager after work. What’s more, we always end up over-ordering without thinking about the consequences.
WA - WANCHIIMU (One Team)
It was great filming “Rent-A-Girlfriend”! I learnt from my co-star Non-chan (Kotaki Nozomu) and proactively tried to talk to everyone. I’m glad I did my best.
Nishihata Daigo
NA - NAGOYA
Miso cutlet, chicken wings… I want to take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the local food. I also want to visit the Okazaki city and the locations from my favorite YouTuber. I’m looking forward to our concert tour in Nagoya as well.
NI - NINOMIYA KAZUNARI-KUN
When I sent him a birthday message, he immediately replied, “I guess it’s about time that we went for a proper meal.” It would be great if we could have a drink and a relaxed chat together.
WA - WAKASA (Youth)
I’m at the age where my muscle aches come 2 to 3 days after my workout (laughs). However when I tell people that I’m 25 at my drama set, they’d say to me, “I thought you were younger than that,” which makes me happy. I’m an old man on the inside though.
Michieda Shunsuke
NA - NATTO
I’ve always liked it, but recently I’ve started to frequently eat it again. Previously I often ate miso soup with natto, but I heard that the health benefits of natto are lost if I add it to miso soup, so I only eat it with sauce now.
NI - NIKOICHI (Two halves of a whole)
Iwasaki Taisho and I are two halves of a whole! I don’t deny the rumors that we’re dating (laughs). I banned Taisho from drinking cola because he drinks too much of it, but after 3 days, he told me that he feels stressed if he doesn’t drink it, so he started drinking cola again.
WA - WANDAFURU (Wonderful)
I was happily sitting in the shinkansen with my new bag when Jo-kun, who was sitting next to me, tried to paste a “Naniwa-derful Radio” sticker on my bag. I protected my bag and the sticker is now on my smartphone!

NA - NANANIN (7 people)
When the 7 of us starred in the drama, “Men Kou”, and experienced creating a single show, it really helped bring us together. Having that was significant.
NI - NISHIHATA DAIGO
When I heard that Daigo was going to play Toyotomi Hideyoshi in the drama, “Shin Shinchokoki”, I changed his contact details in my smartphone to “Toyotomi Hideyoshi”. However, when he contacted me, I got confused because I didn’t know who it was, so I switched it back immediately.
WA - WANDAFURU (Wonderful)
Recently I bought some food for the “Naniwan-derful Radio” set, but the staff’s reviews were just so-so. On the contrary, it made me think, “We’ve grown close enough that we stopped giving empty compliments.” (laughs)
