We had a couple days of very chilly weather, with nighttime temps below freezing. That's not unusual for March, but after weeks of warm weather, I was afraid for the flowers that are now blooming, and for two little rose bushes I just planted. The flowers seem to be fairly okay, although I've noticed the forsythia blooms are looking a little ragged.
I placed old towels around the two baby rose bushes to keep frost from harming them. I sure hope they survive and grow huge and chock full of blossoms! One of them is called "Joseph's Coat" and it will have blooms ranging from red, through orange and yellow. It's a climbing rose and I've planted it next to my new vinyl fence. Once it gets bigger I'll put up a trellis behind it so it will have something to climb. The other rose bush is named "Easy Going" and will have yellow blooms.
My potted chives from last year survived being outdoors all winter, and now they're green and healthy looking.
