Title: Telephone
Disclaimer: I don't own em.
Rating: PG-ish
Warnings: Spoilers for Bash.
Word count: 698
Summary: The others were called after Blaine was told what happened, so I figured I'd write up that phone tree.
A/N: I've been laid up in recovery mode after a surgery, so I figured I might as well finish up some fics I had laying around.

Blaine stopped his attempts to cheer Sam up when his phone rings. Once he answered, and the woman began speaking, he felt his heart drop into his feet and vaguely felt Sam staring at him. He assured the woman on the phone he’s heading there right now and numbly hung up. His tongue felt strangely heavy and it wasn’t until Sam grabbed his shoulder and forced him to look at him, does Blaine find his voice again.

“Kurt-” He started, before roughly clearing his throat. “Kurt’s in the hospital.”

“What?!” Sam’s voice was a high pitched yelp and Blaine blinked trying to center himself.

“They said, they said they think he was bashed Sam.” Sam goes slack jawed for a second before realizing Blaine was in some sort of shock and he needed to take control of this situation.

“Ok, get your shoes on. I’m going to for a cab and then call Mercedes and have her meet us there.” Sam instructed. Blaine nodded before shuffling off to shove his feet into a pair of shoes. Once Sam finished when the cab company, he calls Mercedes. She picks up on the third ring.

“Sam, I don’t really want to talk.” She said.

“Kurt’s in the hospital, they think he was bashed.” Sam told her flatly without sugarcoating it. “I’m waiting for a cab and heading over to Presbyterian with Blaine.”

“I’ll call Artie and meet you there.” Mercedes said decisively. She hung up before Sam could say anything else. He then bundled Blaine into his coat and ushered him outside to wait for the cab.

Artie picked up the phone vibrating against the table, he smiled slightly seeing Mercedes name pop up on screen, he was happy for her success, but he had missed her while she was gone.

“What up girl?” He greeted and Mercedes sucked in a breath.

“Artie,” She started and he knew something was wrong.

“What happened?”

“Kurt’s in the hospital,” She told him and the images on Artie’s screen go out of focus. “They think it was a bashing.”

“Oh my god,” Artie breathed out.

“Sam and Blaine are on their way, but I told them I’d call you.” Mercedes said and then things seemed to snap back into focus for Artie.

“Can you pick me up? The subway is less than a half a mile from here.” Artie requested and he could almost feel Mercedes sharp nod over the phone.

“Of course I can. Artie, he’s...he’s alone. Sam and Blaine are all the way across town, they took him to Presbyterian.”

“Rachel is in rehearsal, I’m going to call her she would be the closest,” Artie assured her and Mercedes thanked him before hanging up the phone. His teacher is remarkably cool about him cutting out early and Artie gathered his belongs and rolled himself outside to wait for Mercedes and after taking a few deep breaths, he called Rachel.

********

Rachel walked to where the phone was laying wondering who could be calling her during her rehearsal time.

“Hello?”

“Rachel,” Artie’s voice sounded weird and immediately put Rachel on edge.

“What’s going on?” Rachel asked, rattled.

“How quickly can you get to Presbyterian from where you are?” Rachel’s whole body jolted and her voice cracked.

“Ten minutes tops. Why?” Artie remained quiet. “Why Artie?”

“Kurt’s there. They think he was bashed.” Rachel’s world crashed down for a moment, before she steeled herself.

“I’m on my way right now.” She’s already grabbing what she can around her. “I’ll see you soon.” She hung up before Artie finished telling her goodbye. She quickly apologized but explained she had to leave as there was a medical emergency. She was dismissed and she realized she probably left several belongings behind in her haste to get out. She relieved their fight over and over again the whole ride there.

Once she arrived at the hospital, she’s told since she’s not family they can’t release any information to her. So she found a seat and sat, waiting for the others to arrive, resolving to make amends with Kurt the moment he was well enough to do so, and wallow in her guilt for leaving him alone.
