"Yes I Can if Frank Sinatra Says it's Okay"

Bruno Kirby died this week. He's a character actor who has been in lots of things, but of course the reason I am writing about him is he played the limo driver in Spinal Tap who is talking to the band about Frank Sinatra & Sammy Davis Jr, and Nigel raises up the divider. "When you've loved and lost the way Frank has, then you know what life's about."

For Your Consideration comes out in November!

Tomorrow is my birthday. The Yankees are playing a 5-game series at Fenway starting with a double-header tomorrow, so all I want for my birthday is Home Runs from Big Papi! That's not too much to ask.

I've got a pretty busy weekend planned. Tomorrow is the third Friday dinner group, which will be at a Chinese buffet. Then Saturday my party starts at 4. I've got most of the stuff bought that I need. I am not going to make a ton of food, because I think a lot of people are bringing stuff. So I'm just making a couple different dips using some Tastefully Simple products, and putting out salsa & chips. I am also planning some games, so I've got prizes to give out. The main thing left to do is clean. My 2nd bedroom is especially messy, I think I'm going to end up just stuffing things in drawers to make it look neat. Not that anyone will be spending a lot of time upstairs, but people might want to go up and check it out.

On Tuesday night I went to The Penguin for dinner with a small group of co-workers. It was actually pretty fun, and it's not like I need to be convinced to go get some sweet potato fries. I very rarely do things outside of work with work people. I have only invited 2 co-workers to my party, and I think only one of them is coming.

Pride is in NINE days. The two things I am mainly concerned with at this point (other than people showing up) are the t-shirt and a survey. We need to get the t-shirts printed, and I'm working on the back, which lists the sponsors. I just finally got the logo from Wachovia that I need, but the guy wants to see the front design to approve it, and I don't have that, Laura does. We also are planning to conduct a survey, which still needs to be printed. I also am not sure we have enough volunteers. We were planning to have a survey-taker at each entrance, and have them work in shifts of a couple hours, so it would end up being something like 24 volunteers. I'll find out at the meeting tonight what the status is on that.

I so don't want to be at work right now...
