Ah, these Sunday night entries practically write themselves.
I don't get to see a lot of Red Sox games on TV, but I did today since they were playing Baltimore, and Fox Sports South carries their games. I miss Jason Varitek (he's on the DL after having knee surgery). It's just not the same without him. Wasn't the same without Big Papi in the line-up either (he got a day off), but they managed to get by without him. That last half-inning when Baltimore had the bases loaded and Papelbon kept throwing balls was pretty stressful, though. The Red Sox have some pretty major games this week (Detroit Tigers and the Yankees), so wins will be crucial. I want them to win the AL East so badly! Actually, I want them to win the American League outright, too, of course. The Mets are kicking ass this year, so it is possible that if the Red Sox actually get to the World Series there could be a rematch of 1986. (if you don't know the significance of that, just Google "Bill Buckner")
Last night I went to the Sting game. It was the last game of the season, since they are not in the play-offs. It ended up being a runaway win for the Sting over the Chicago Sky. A win's a win, but admittedly, it was pretty anti-climactic. The team store had a 40% sale on all Sting merchandise, so I bought 2 t-shirts. One is a black long-sleeved shirt I had seen there a few weeks ago, and the other is gray short-sleeved. The black one is really cool, but with it being long-sleeved, I probably won't wear it to very many actual Sting games, since they play in the summer. I went with the 2 Lisas. Maybe next year we'll buy season tickets.
After the game I met up with Kat from Q-Notes at Fuel Pizza and then we went to do the Cover +1 fundraiser at The Eagle. We basically stood outside the bar and asked people if they would like to donate to Pride Charlotte, and handed out cards with the dates & website. They actually gave their money inside when they paid their cover. I don't know how much we made but the jar looked pretty full. So it turned out that last night this bar was featuring "lube wrestling," but apparently there were no takers. When our work was done, at 1 AM, one of the owners gave us a little tour. The Eagle is sort of a leather bar, mainly male patrons. It was quite...interesting. There was a store that sells leather clothes and accessories, and some of the stuff in there I just filed under "I don't want to know what that's used for!"
