At Least If I'm A Medical Expeirment, I Look Kick Ass While Doing It

Okay, so...yah, not fun couple of days. The eye problem I had back in Mid-May at and after Clay Camp came back again. Started in the right eye this time the morning after the LORE meeting on Monday (so around Dawn on Tuesday). Went from fine, not even itching to "OMG My Eye Is Gunna Pop Out Of My Head!!" in the space of about four hours.

And no, I'm not exagerating that. I nearly had to go into the ER because the cornia (the white part of the eye) was so swellen, I couldn't close my eye around it properly. I was in a full blown panic, Dad was ready to rush me into the ER, before we finaly got ahold of mom and she said "Just put cold compresses on it and lie down."

Apprnetly the "extreme swelling of the cornia" has happend to her, and the really fun bit I started having where the skin of the inside of my lower eyelid started pealing off has happend to friends of hers over the years. GAH, now THAT is painful (I've lost count of how many "layers" have come off in the last day 'n a half ::shudders::).

Anyhow, Mom got both Dad and I calmed down and told me to just wait for the doc appointment the next day (was today around 3-ish) unless the pain got really bad, or I started bleeding or something.

So the following 36 hours were bascily made of missery. And then shortly before my doc's appointment, the left eye started to show the first signs of problems, despite my extencive attempts at avoiding cross-contamination.

I got into the doc's finaly and he basicly said "Yep, you have pink eye" even before I got my eyepatch off enough to try to show him.

Long story short for those who skipped the Cut, I have pink eye, and it's definatly what I had last month too. He gave me a script for some drops and some extra painkillers (just waiting now for the pharmacy to fill them, I can pick them up after 1:30am or so), so hopefuly that'll start helping.

However...unfourntatly there are two kinds of conjuntivitus/pink eye, Virial and Bacterial, and there is absolutly no test to tell which a person has (which is just crap if you ask me! do a fric'n culture!). So bascily I just have to take the drops and hope that I have the bacterial form, because the drops will do crap jack shit on the virial. And then to top it off, all the drops are either Sulfa based or Pennicillin based. Sulfa stuff I can't take, at all, for any reason, period, if I want to live. Pennicillin I've had reactions to in the past, but have always managed to live though them.

Soooo...yah, basicaly I gotta take the drops, hope they work, and then hope they don't send me into anafalaxis or stop my breathing.

::headesk:: ::sighs::

But hay, at least I looked kick ass on my way to the appointment! I was actualy kinda cold today, so I wore my black boots, jeans, long sleaved black shirt, and my black leather jacket. Combine this with the eyepatch over my right eye, and I looked like a very pail Nick Furry! ::LOL:: Honestly, it really was pretty kick ass! ::LOL:: I even had a silver necklace on which kinda looked like dogtags or something if you didn't pay too close attention to the fact that it was a pent. ::G:: So good with the bad, I supose...

I'll keep you guys updated when I try the drops...or if I don't, assume the drops were bad, and I'm now in the hospital, on a resporator and in a coma. Or something.

ETA: Just put in the first round of eyedrops, and they didn't hurt anywhere nearly as badly as either my doctor or the pharmasist told me they would. Not sure if this meens that what I have is Virial, and there for the drops aren't working at all, or if it's just my threashold for eye pain is so far up there right now, I don't even notice the new pains as much. Hmmmmm.

*headesk*, owwie!, medical, update, *sigh*, aarrgghh!!, life
