Apple's most recent 15" MacBook Pro is not too much different than the old one. Same chipset, same CPUs, same graphics card, same ports, same generous 8GB/ $700 memory limit. This post from gizmodo complains that the 13 inch MacBook is too expensive compared to the Inspiron 13 - $550 more expensive. I actually found that number a little low. The new MacBook is almost $800 more expensive than a comparably equipped Inspiron 13.

Back in February I mentioned that Apple's MacBooks had reached a feature plateau. I said that paying $2500 for a current-gen MacBook didn't make a lot of sense when you could buy a nearly-identical last-gen MacBook for $1600. Back in the old days Apple guarded their hardware specs and nobody knew what was coming. Apple is still guarding their future product line since moving to the Intel platform but Intel still publishes a road map of future products. My version 0 MacBook is the best computer I've ever owned. It runs quiet, it's fast, it's got 2!!! processors in it, it gets ridiculously good wireless reception, and the battery life is not bad at all at least compared to the PowerPC models ( Read more... )
