The new version of Android uses the speech-to-text feature from Google Voice to let you do text input by speaking. It actually works pretty well: you hit a 'microphone' button, speak into the phone, and what you said appears in the active dialog box. For a long time one of my complaints about the iPhone is their super-cozy relationship with AT&T. If you want an iPhone you can get one - locked into nothing less than a 2 year contract with AT&T only.

I'm really unsatisfied with my HTC G1 phone for one single reason: RAM. It shipped with 192MB RAM which makes it incredibly slow. I can't say for certain that this is what's going on under the hood but it certainly seems like it's swapping the foreground/background processes to 'disk' (flash) every time I switch between the browser, gmail, and the ( Read more... )

Right now I'm a little annoyed by Android, the Google smartphone OS. The HTC Hero sucks and my Google G1 doesn't have enough RAM to run Android 2.0.
