Android Business Meeting Transcript Song

The new version of Android uses the speech-to-text feature from Google Voice to let you do text input by speaking. It actually works pretty well: you hit a 'microphone' button, speak into the phone, and what you said appears in the active dialog box. Behind the scenes Android sends your voice to Google's servers, and the server decodes the speech and returns a transcript. It's a slick feature that can be faster than typing if you've got a lot to type or don't want to text while driving.

It actually works very well when you're speaking clearly and deliberately, but not so well otherwise. This morning in our regular Thursday production meeting I tried to generate a "transcript" by hitting the microphone button over and over, but it didn't work so well. Here's what Android thought we said:

First year i lost 2 versions of jail
We were thinking rock about that jared allen
Division of a on another front st 1 is that i've done
City you get tested for that
Yeah yeah yeah yeah get tested for that
Ha ha
Olive garden
Sure frozen dinners
I love you
Sure that i have no idea
Yeah yeah yeah my head on your chest
I hope you dance
Allied building i am using a couple of characters as well known that is there are flies
Exactly has anyone help me out
Oh yeah and he's at the house
So where we stand on its a last name is getting an error

Needless to say, the above 'transcript' bears absolutely no resemblance to anything we said during the meeting, except maybe "using a couple of characters" and "help me out".

After the meeting I sent the 'transcript' around to a few friends. One of them commented that the Android transcript would make fine lyrics to a song. And I guess "Lostwars" had a slow lunch. He recorded it, and it's actually pretty good.
