Safe
By moonlight the beach glitters like frost. Eowyn aligns her steps with Elboron’s. It’s her first time by the ocean, and she has felt strangely subdued by the infinite vault of sea and sky. At dusk she settles.
Her only previous taste of the sea was a touch of his wave-dream. She saw them gather their children and run towards the illusory shelter of the mallorn trees. The scene played out in a rapid arpeggio of heartbeats.
Eowyn conjures a circle around Elboron’s head with her fingers.
He’s safe inside it...under this fine web of moonlight. We both are...for now.
