A request filled for
vataloca . I suggested the ship and she fell in love with it. We're so wrong.

Title: When Angels and Serpents Dance
Fandom: A:TLA
Challenge: Individual Themes
7_chakras
Chakra/Theme Set: Smoldering
Prompt: shaking; trembling
Characters: Ozai, Katara [can be viewed as Ozara]
Summary: He sneers and laughs in the face of her defeat.

“Trapped,” came a snake’s hiss, “like a spider-fly. How does it feel little waterbender to be beaten by the Phoenix King?”

Her breath trembled and heaved, body humming with fear and anger. They’d lost. Aang…he was…he was dead and Sokka and Suki and Toph, everyone was dead. From Bumi to Master Pakku, not one had escaped. Drunken with power that Sozin’s Comet bestowed upon them, the Fire Nation had swarmed the Earth Kingdom, lighting the land in fire. Thousands lost their lives and even more suffered ten fold that of any attack through one hundred years.

Katara tried to choke back bone-shaking sobs. From across the way, Azula’s broken laughter could be heard. Ozai’s wasn’t far behind. Hot, burning tears ran marks down her face, searing every inch they treaded.

“Azula,” Ozai called back pleasingly, “have the guards take all the surviving traitors to the containment cell.” A paused held ominously in the air. “And have them all beheaded.”

The order must have filled Azula’s bloodlust capacity for she was gone only seconds later.

Intimidation being his manner of control like any other predator, Ozai walked a circle around Katara. If only, came the last remaining thought of defiance, she could move her hands then the mighty Phoenix King would never walk proud and straight again. Hanna would be pleased to know of her thoughts for not a drop of blood, absolutely none, would they find in Ozai’s body once she was done.

“You’ve lost. All your efforts fell flat and in the end, I reigned victorious. As I speak, fleets of air and battle ships are on their way to the Northern Water Tribe.” A sneering grin pulled at the man’s features.

“And not one tribesman, woman, or child will survive.”

Then she felt it, a rage building within as his finger trailed a jagged line down her heated cheek.
“You won’t be far behind,” he whispered.

Shivers shook Katara spine, tears still spilling. And there came a horrid laugh; laughter only demons could bellow.
They’d lost. He’d won.

Long live the Fire Nation. Long live the Phoenix King.
