[Fic]- 7_chakras Themes

It's been a terribly long time since I've written anything. I lost my written voice for a while and I'm just glad I picked it up again. These need work, but I'm sure they're bearable.

Chakra/Theme Set: Chasm
Prompt: Struggle
Summary: He watches from the other side and realizes how wrong things actually are.

He found out quickly that watching from the other side was painfully annoying. Dressed in Earth Kingdom royals’ clothing, hair done up flawlessly, and eyes trained on the ground like any well-breed woman, the fierce earth bender he’d once known had been buried beneath the expectations of a country. She wasn’t his Liu Jun anymore.

“I must thank you for finally opening trading to our people,” Zhao Li’s voice announced to Hamado. Manners always civil, the water tribe trades leader bowed with a nod. The night before nothing but harsh words about Ba Jing’s governor could have been spoken and not but hours later, in the man’s presence, Hamado’s tone would have changed. He’d always said that just because one might not like another, civil attitude and respect should never be thrown to the side. Nahuatl didn’t understand him one bit. He despised the politician dressed as a mighty lord who oozed self-righteous superiority.

Instead of concentrating on the conversation at hand, like it was required, Nahuatl’s focus zeroed in across the table to the governor’s wife. The fact made his blood boil, eyes see red. It was obvious she knew a pair of unwavering eyes stared her down, but no defiant look dared to rise to the challenge. Like any good wife she stayed quiet, invisible among men.
Not Liu Jun. Not Liu Jun.

A long time ago, Nahuatl mused as fire burned his insides, an earth bender stubborn enough to shake any gods foundations had made a comfortable spot for herself within the Northern Water Tribe. Without effort she broke down every wall and defied every rule. And no one dared not to fall head over heels for her. She’d been something of a legend, coming from a foreign land. Now, that legend was dead.

Now that legend ceased to exist.

Look at me, Nahuatl shouted to himself, hoping to will his own desires upon her via staring. But just as before, she never obeyed him. Another man had tamed and broken the legend. No will, no drive.
Inside Nahuatl screamed and shook and lost all control. Outside however, just as Hamado, he remained civil. But with every minute the struggle to not reach across the table and remind a woman who use to be so strong that this life was not meant for her grew more unbearable.

“Well I’m sure you’re all tired. I’ll have my servants show you all to your designated rooms.”

Summary: They wait for a battle that will never end.

What ever happened three years ago between them now meant next to nothing. Petty fights, hurtful words, all of it floated down to the pit of a dark sea never to be found again. But now the pain and the fighting didn’t fall on their shoulders. The problems stirred out passed borders of ice and snow to a land of fire.

“They’re coming.”
Shaman Pakwa warned and predicted after-effects. Huyana feverishly worked together remedies and taught the women more healing techniques. Warriors prepared their weapons. Hunters gathered more supplies. Children became sheltered inside the homes more.
The tribe deafened until silent.

“What will you do,” Jun questioned, eyes revealing pint-up worry, hands clasped together as to not tremble.
Nahuatl stared at her solemnly. What he wouldn’t give to wipe away all the fear that shook the hearts of so many, to take away the look in her eyes.

“Fight. We will fight and spill blood until not one fire nation soldier is left standing.”

“Isn’t there some other way? Can’t you avoid bloodshed all together?”
A fear so great welled up inside of him. A demon’s strength demanding its due violence.

“There is no other way Jun. It's kill or be killed.”

And there was silence as they waited for black smoke to choke falling snow.

Chakra/Theme Set: Chasm
Prompt: No Way Out
Summary: A marrige unwanted. A grieving would-be bride.

After months of eluding and postponing, the day she could not run from anymore finally caught up; her wedding day.
Jun had screamed and cried herself to sleep the night before. Though able to bend earth, she was powerless. Grandfather, knowing that not demanding it upon his death bed would result in an unmarried grandchild, arranged the marriage. Bless him for it was out of love and not spite. Bless him because his only desire was for her to have a stable, well-respected future. But for love or not, no happiness would come of it. Now she was trapped, obligated by family promises to see things through.

Running would only embarrass the family name. And the least she could do was up-hold her family’s well-deserved honor.

Another panic wave knocked about Jun’s heart. It was painful, so terribly painful to know that day she no longer could live a life paved by her ideas and beliefs. A governor’s wife till death did them apart.
Heartfelt sobs filled a would-be bride’s room.

Prompt: Overcome
Summary: The wise knows all.

Trials of life were inescapable obstacles that defined the very will and persona of a person. Without them, knowledge and growth could never be achieved and continuous sameness would rule. Sometimes, taking the hand of an enemy, understanding them, opened the world around to closed eyes. Often a friend could betray and the truth could become lies. Learning to overcome trials of life was a never ending journey, even in death. For nothing ever stayed the same unless those with the power to move mountains refused change.

Jun listened with an unwavering focus to Shaman Pakwa. His words bestowed wisdom. His eyes relayed truth. Without knowing it, she’d fallen into a trance, the world outside the hut lost.

“Mommy, I’m tired.”

Shaman Pakwa’s face broke into an owl’s sleepy old grin. “Then maybe it is time for my stories to end.”
Jun, broken from her trance by Pakwa’s words turned to the boy with eyes blue as solid ice. His tiny fingers clung tightly onto her parka, tugging. Tadi lacked patience just like his father.

“Yes, yes, alright then. Forgive me Shaman Pakwa-“

“No need,” he chuckled with a dismisses wave of old fingers. “Sometimes a child’s words are to be heard.”

She nodded, stood up and hoisted Tadi into her arms. Quickly a second seal-otter’s hid was draped across the boy for extra warmth against dead winter’s wind.
Before departing however, a question forced itself to be known.

Jun’s eyes spoke of worry. “Have we, Shaman Pakwa, overcome?”

Without hesitation the owl’s smile returned, thicker, stronger. His words, as always, eased away worry.
“I believe the boy is enough proof of that.”
