So I'm still trying to find my passion and purpose in life. There is this new book out called "Nickled and Dimed: On (Not) Getting by in America" or something like that. The author spoke at UH a couple weeks ago but I found out too late.
The author deliberately took low-paying jobs as a waitress, maid, things like that, to see if she could make ends meet. She barely scraped by and discovered that low-paying jobs require lots of hard work, physical labor, and mental alertness.
So, in order to get by, it appears that I will have to work hard even if I don't make a lot of money, so there is no reason to be afraid of working hard at school to get a better job, be it in teaching or nursing, or whatever, because I will have to work hard no matter what.
