Belated year in review
I've really been slacking off with lj lately, but I've decided to finally do my year in movies review at long last. I know you all must have been choking on the suspense. As I predicated last year, this was a personal worst in sheer number. I only managed to see 37 movies in theaters, a full 15 off from my goal. And that is despite seeing 9 movies in 10 days in December. Curse you DC and your overpriced theaters.
Yet overall, the movies I saw did not suck. Last year I only saw 5 great movies, whereas this year it leapt up to at least 11 (the most recent are, The Squid and the Whale, Munich, and Brokeback Mountain). And most mind-boggling of all, I only saw 3 shitty movies: King Kong, The Wedding Date, and Fantastic Four. I mean the very end of War of the Worlds blew ass and Crash is painfully overrated, but neither made me want to kill myself while still in the theater. Although this could be interpreted as a lesson in quality over quantity, I still plan on committing myself to reaching the ever-elusive goal of 52 movies. Success is practically guaranteed though, since I'll be graduating, thereby freeing up a ton of time to dedicate to the movies. Wish me luck!
