Apparently my yard is going to be snake central this year. I just mowed my front yard with the push mower and saw three garter snakes, all of the fairly good size with the largest one 18" long. Just noticed awhile ago that the crocuses and daffodils in the front yard have come up. : )

A while ago I happened to look out the kitchen window to see a shadowy figure going across the yard through the freezing rain. My first thought was it was a cat, given that the only mammals in my backyard are squirrels, rabbits, and cats, but it immediately made me do a double take when I realized that the size and gait were wrong. My domain finally resolved itself, but it sure didn't go as planned. After waiting patiently for three days, I sent in a support ticket. Everything I've heard stated that it would take 48-72 hours for the domain to resolve, but it had been closer to 80 hours when I sent in the support ticket. There's a white squirrel running around my neighborhood. I first saw him (her?) running in the backyard a couple of weeks ago when I was petting PJ as he was watching the backyard. He's not albino and not pure white, but kind of a "dirty" white. Almost like he's got white fur with a dark under fur ( Read more... )

In order to attempt to catch up on stuff around the house, I took today off. Part of what I was going to do was make sure I got the lawn mowed. The front was done Wednesday night with the push mower. I had hoped to finish mowing the back yard after work. I rushed home and pulled the mower out and gassed it up. It started up immediately. I moved the handle to power the mower and it kicked in when I barely moved and I couldn't move it up to the stop, but it seemed to be working.
