Yes, two months (and one day) ago, I first met the lovely Lori (
bunnychicken) on her own home turf, and within the next 10 days, visited her neck of the woods and travelled back west via Amtrak to Vancouver where we hung out the rest of the time. It was fun. And now, I've ocular proof!
(A quick recent and awesome trip to Seattle to visit
disco_fox has also been included here as these few pics were on the same roll of film. Yes, I still take rolls of film to get developed, so sue me.)
My first glimpse of Lori at the airport in Minneapolis...we waited over an hour for my bags to arrive on another flight. Bogus.
Any true Vancouver Canucks fan would go into arch-rival city and boo their team. Here I am outside the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, the home of the much-hated (and altogether boring-as-mud) Minnesota Wild.
OK, I hate them, but not bad enough to NOT buy a piece of their merchandise...to burn at home! (Actually my bro and I have a collection of NHL team flags...so it's for the collection and nothing more. I even have a LEAF flag, if you can believe it.)
Lori slips and falls on her ass in the parking lot outside the Xcel Energy Center. It would be a recurring theme on the trip.
Here we are, somewhere at the Mall of America. Lori's looking sassy and delightfully wicked here but I can't recall why!
I couldn't help but feel immensely patriotic when I came across this beaver at the aquarium at the Mall of America. I don't know if it's
Frank or Gordon, though.
Back in what happened to be Lori's living quarters for that week...and she's digging the bear I brought for her. He has been named Timothy...and Lori has moved fifty times since.
Look, I found a cat to sacrifice! Ignore the stain on my left knee! I honestly do not know what that is.
Here we are, somewhere in the Rockies, journeying westward on Amtrak. We'd just finished watching Red Eye on the train, and I probably have some red eye here...stupid cheap camera. Lori's arch-nemesis, my journal, is on the table there. (Yes,
lara_luna, that is the exact same journal you saw when I came down to visit you a year ago!)
Lori's true love...the seagull on our balcony at our hotel room in Vancouver.
No, maybe this is her true love...the one and only George P. Puglett, who she met when we came back to my house to visit my family while in town.
Lori stands outside the H.R. McMillan Planetarium...as it closes just before we get the chance to go inside. Those bastards.
One "surprise" I had for Lori was to take her to a "true Canadian experience" - which I thought was best exemplified as a good ol' fashioned hockey game. Canucks vs. Leafs - does it get much better?
As you see, I came dressed for the occasion in the proper attire.
As you can see, Lori did NOT - underneath that sweater, she's wearing blue. All blue. LEAF COLOURS. DIE!!!!!!!! (But apart from that, this picture is boo-tee-ful.
This is just proof that we were actually there together. It was difficult to tell at the end, when Lori actually got involved with some hockey-fights that broke out in the stands once the game was over. Some Leaf fans are just sore, sore losers. Typical.
We're having lunch at a greek restaurant, Centros. It was delicious. Apparently Lori thought my cheek was delicious, too. :) Our waitresses' index finger also made it into the shot.
The main reason Lori came here was to go apartment-hunting, since she wants to move here, eventually. The day we finally set out to do so was the day it was raining like crazy. It's a cute under-the-umbrella pic, though!
Back at my place, where Lori attacked mi puglito but yet again. He was happy to be loved again. Dogs are such love-whores.
That Thursday, Lori accompanied me to hang out with the Flying Squirrels at the Landing Pub in Ladner. Not pictured (but in attendance) were Derrick, Melissa, and Jay. It was good times.
Lori's got her girly "faux-Dirty-Bitch" drink and I've got my manly beer. It's oil and water, but hey, we still managed to put our differences aside and get along great. GO SQUIRRELS!
Lori LOVES her seagulls. The bakery two blocks from the hotel loved how many old loaves we bought so we could feed the filthy (but cute) little buggers.
I've more shots like this but I figured I didn't need to put more than one in my LiveJournal. :p
Lori, the eternal tourist, takes a pic of her own reflection. Good to see she's not a vampire, too, though the marks she once left on my neck...yee-ouch. :)
Lori and I, travelling across Vancouver harbour on the Seabus.
In Stanley Park, Lori and I came across the wonderfully tame Rocky the Raccoon, at Prospect Point.
Isn't that just adorable? AWWW!!!
On Lori's last night here, we went to the revolving restaurant at Harbour Centre...I wish the city in the background turned out better here! Damn expensive, that place is...though delicious. A nice final night, at any rate.
AWWWW!
Lori and her infamous "Dog licking peanut butter off the roof of his mouth" face. She attacked George earlier in the trip to prove this point.
That was a great 10 days...and I wish it didn't end. When Lori moves back here for good, I'm sure it won't. *LORI-HUGS* :)
And now, just last weekend, I went down to visit Winona, whom I met thanks to Lori...I hope the three of us get to hang out together real soon, too. That'd be a blast. :)
Winona stopped her bellydancing routine as soon as I whipped out the camera. She had no problem clinging to that Mikes Hard Lemonade for dear life, though. (And note the left ankle. Poor girl!)
This would've been a nice picture if I could for once stop mugging for the camera. Next time, Nona, I won't, I promise!
A smirking look of disapproval, likely based on something I'd done. But look, she can smile in pictures!
And this concludes my recent rolls of film.
