Don't go there, Girlfriend!

At long last, I shall write about my adventures on Monday. After I got off from work I immediately got in the car and made my way down to the train station to pick Katerina up - I made it there at exactly 5pm, as promised. It felt a little funny walking up to the station, too - the last time I was here was almost six months ago to the day that I parted ways with Lori that I figured was just for a while but looks like forever. Funny how the two more recent people I've been into can be connected to this one exact locale, huh?

Pacific Central Station, the Amtrak/Via Rail/Greyhound bus station in Vancouver.

She looked so...drained. She basically ran from her perch at a coffee shop and collapsed in my arms because of her rough ordeal over the entire weekend. I knew that one of the few things that got her (and I) through this weekend was the fact that we'd be seeing each other after it was all over. Kat was still beautiful and lovely as always, but she did look very tired and deprived of anything. I promised to show her a good time and that seemed to cheer her up - though she already seemed convinced anyway.

It was only 5pm and because of her ordeal with customs, she wasn't able to get into her apartment downtown - her keys were still back in Summerland. As such, we went for a little drive instead, along the south side of False Creek through Kitsilano, towards the UBC campus, where we could find some privacy.

Science World, located right across the street from the train station. This was built in 1986 as part of Expo 86.

We drove alongside the Downtown Vancouver Historic Railway for a ways. I've always wanted to go on that.

A portion of the Cambie Street Bridge, underwhich we drove.

A rocket ship statue, located at the south end of the Cambie Bridge, moved here from the Expo 86 site once the fair was over.

Westward across False Creek we go...

We passed through the neighbourhood of Kitsilano, Vancouver's "hip and cool" district for young adults and the young at heart.

West 4th Avenue, the heart of Kits.

Jericho Beach, and Downtown Vancouver across the water.

We eventually got to UBC campus - my alma mater, and her current place of employment - and went for a walk in the woods on the edge of the cliff overlooking the ocean. We spent a few hours there, just being...snuggly. Ironically, there's a nude beach at the base of that cliff, so had we misplaced a foot or two and taken a tumble, it wouldn't have been that embarassing.

Part of the UBC campus; we were in the trees along the top portion of the map.

Wreck Beach, when it's busy. Yes, there are nude people there, but very pixelated!

Sunset at Wreck Beach.

After that, we got hungry. Sadly, Kat was still feeling gross and likely wouldn't be able to hold anything down, so it was just up to me - so we went for a lovely drive along English Bay and through Stanley Park to West Vancouver, were we hit up a Subway.

And after that, we went on a drive up Cypress Mountain to the viewpoint, where we sat and talked. Mostly. It was also funny because nearly every other car there was either filled with tourists that had never seen a mountain or a tree before, or young kids that didn't have anywhere else to go to make out. Steamy windows and all. It was like high school. :D

The view of Vancouver through the trees from Cypress Mountain.

After nearly getting noticed, we moved further up the mountain to a very open, yet secluded picnic area, and just sat and...did stuff again, while watching the sun set and the city lights come to life before us. The mosquitos also were happy to see us. Youch.

On the way back - Kat had to get back to the train station by midnight - we stopped by at Prospect Point in Stanley Park and snuggled some more. We tattooed each other with a pen from Kat's purse, and so forth. It was absolutely pitch black there, too - we'll need to remember that locale. :D

At midnight I dropped Kat off back at the train station so she could catch her bus home - and she made it back to Summerland by sunrise. It's a shame that she'll have to spend a few more days out there, but hey, it'll give her a chance to drain the hive-fluid from her skin and return to her normal, bouncy, curvy self (her words, not mine) before coming back for date #2 - dinner and movie(s) at her place - on Friday.

So, yeah. That was our date. PG-rated version of course, but it was all good. We're quite fond of each other and she's officially my girlfriend now, so yeah. Life is good. The Summer of Tim continues! :)
