Vayne stood at the gates of Alexandria Castle, this time as a returning visitor, rather than the full stranger he once was. He had been such a frequent visitor in the past that the guard no longer challenged him, but instead offered an escort, sending someone ahead to announce him to the queen. He accepted these forms of familiarity with a silent nod of his head, sparing a look of gratitude for the women at the gate. Just inside, as he walked to the boat that would ferry them to the castle proper, he glanced over to Cid, waiting to see the man's reaction to the castle in person. It was a stunning sight. However, many would argue that the castle paled in comparison to the queen who reigned within its walls.
