Marlene had spread out all of her paper and crayons in front of her, then sat back, staring at them for a moment. She knew she had wanted to thank the Marquis somehow after not spending so much money on the white chocobo. He must have wanted it really bad if he had wanted to spend so much on it. But she knew that there were more important things to spend gil on than a chocobo. He had listened to her too, which made her immensely happy. He put all that gil towards helping people. She had to repay him somehow.

She couldn't very well buy him a chocobo, that was way out of her price range. What she could do, however, was do what she does best - draw pictures. She was quite proud of them, especially the ones she had drew for her Uncle Zack to catch him up on everything. She didn't know immediately what she should draw - there were a lot of things she could draw. A picture of the city, or some pretty animals. She tapped a crayon against her cheek as she thought.

Suddenly, an idea came to her. She could draw some chocobos! It wouldn't be the best replacement, but it would have to do. She dropped the crayon she had in her hand, and grabbed her yellow ones. She hadn't drawn a chocobo before, so it shouldn't be too hard, right?

Marlene went through five pieces of paper, crumpling them up. She just couldn't get it to look right! Frowning, she even debated going to look at Cloud's hair while he was in the other room. He'd probably get mad at her when she explained exactly why she wanted to look at his hair, so it wasn't a good idea. Pulling out another piece of paper, she picked up her crayon again. This time, she put a little bit more effort into her drawing.

The end result looked like a chocobo. It wasn't perfect, she knew that, but at least it looked like one. And that's all that matters, right? The next pieces of paper were chocobos in all sorts of colors - blue, green, black, gold, and then white. She knew he wanted that white one really bad, so she made that one especially good.

Satisfied with her results, Marlene pulled out one final piece of paper, writing a note.

Dear Mr. Halim,

I know that you really wanted that chocobo. It was a really nice thing you did for all those people, though. So, for a thank you, I decided to draw you some chocobos! I know they're not as good as a real one, but maybe they'll do until you get some more!

From, Marlene Wallace

She looked over her note, then smiled, folding it along with the pictures up. Tracking down an envelope, she put them in, sealing it. She quickly discovered a problem though.

She didn't know his address! Frowning, she was sure that the people at the post office could help her, right? She was sure they could. Yelling that she'd be back in a few minutes and that she was going to the post office, Marlene put on her shoes and was out the door.
