Not Holmes-related for once

Tonight I will dream
Far below the fading light
My dream is for you
My arms were made to hold you tightI'm studying medieval political geography these days. Political geography. That's two words that make me involuntarily shudder all on their own, by all rights I should detest them combined, but I don't. I think it's really interesting. All this ( Read more... )

Why do you get all the interesting subjects? There are no people to play with or slash in my books. I can’t make anything funny with “Norwegian tax laws” or “the auditor’s handbook”. I tried to make an “omnomnomnom” out of the COSO cube once, but it’s not the same.

Oh dear, I hope you didn't take up economics for slashing, I could have told you that!

But "seriously", aren't there any, I don't know, historical auditors or something mentioned in your books? I remember in Biology I worked with what I had, I slashed the scientists who discovered the DNA molecule, Watson and Crick (and in doing so I still remember their names, go me!)

I don't suppose you want to slash Larry the Liquidator and that other guy. My heart goes out for you.

On the other hand, I still haven't found anything to make go OMNOMNOMNOM, so there you go.

Hi there. I have been trying to hunt down the title of this painting of Charlemagne for references for a graphic novel about Asbestos I have illustrated. Since you are studying this currently I was hoping you might have some metadata on it.
Thanks.

Sadly I know painfully little about the piece. If it has a title it would have been invented much later than the painting, usually I've only heard it referenced as "The crowning of Charlemagne" or "The coronation of Charlemagne".

I'm not even sure what sort of painting it is. It could be from an altar frontal or other church decoration, or it could be an illustration from a manuscript (in that case Einhard's Vita Karoli Magni is a good contender).

I'm sorry I can't help you more.

Thanks for your reply. Someone else managed to hunt it down for me. Here are the specs if you are interested:

Title of Work: CHARLEMAGNE, 742-824 Frankish King

Description of Work: CHARLEMAGNE, 742-824 Frankish King, being crowned in Rome by Pope Leo III, 795-816

folio 106R of 14th century French manuscript Great Chronicles of France, Northern School

This was retrieved from the McGill University art database and so is presumably a reputable source.

Warmth,
