Hi there. I have been trying to hunt down the title of this painting of Charlemagne for references for a graphic novel about Asbestos I have illustrated. Since you are studying this currently I was hoping you might have some metadata on it.

Sadly I know painfully little about the piece. If it has a title it would have been invented much later than the painting, usually I've only heard it referenced as "The crowning of Charlemagne" or "The coronation of Charlemagne".

I'm not even sure what sort of painting it is. It could be from an altar frontal or other church decoration, or it could be an illustration from a manuscript (in that case Einhard's Vita Karoli Magni is a good contender).
