B'Klyn Pride

This is a great site: Christian action for Israel, I highly recommend checking it out.

As I stated in my last post I missed Staten Island Pride but was on board for Brooklyn Pride which took place on the eleventh of this month. I went with few friends, we were impressed. Firstly it is called LGBT Pride that also includes all the sub-communities that exist under that umbrella though there were no B or T groups or flags or anything related to any sub-communities (just some Leather Pride patches and some Bear stuff) to be found. Because of this I refused to buy any mainstream L or G products. However, I did find (at the very end of the day) a booth that sold Bear Pride patches, pins and stickers and Bi Pride flag pins - I purchased two Bear stickers, a Bear pin and a Bi Pride flag pin. Buying any mainstream stuff felt wrong to me since most communities were 100% left out. Manhattan should, well I hope, be better. I also bought three tee shirts (non-LGBT related) for a great bargain and a dog tag type of chain that reads "We must not allow other people's perceptions to define us" (which applies to any minority). Besides the lack of anything L or G mainstream there were a few harsh comments I overheard toward people who are Trans and a very en vogue trendy ad nauseam vibe to the Drag Queen and King show in Prospect Park in other words it's PC to love and support Queen and King shows but make fun of people who just happen to be Trans, since many Drag Queens and Kings ID as Trans this is an oxymoron but many mainstream gay men and lesbians don't get it! Oh well, their loss! All in all I did have a good time with good friends, had a great lunch and discovered this group: Kolot Chayeinu that peeked my interest since I love theology and I am a supporter of Isreal. I spoke to a very nice woman who was at their booth and told her I would like to check out the group though I am not Jewish (I do believe that one should respect a group's wishes if said group feels the need to have their own space) - she informed me I was welcomed and the group is all inclusive, so I will check them out. I am not sure when but in the near future since I've been pretty busy lately.

I would like to discuss other things but I will leave it for another post since this one is long enough! :D
