I am at Starbucks Millenia Walk. (Hush, it has power outlets and comfy chairs and the wireless is actually at 'excellent' here.)
It being in the middle of the centre walkway, the muzak is Millenia Walk's.
It is a jazzified, mainly piano "Star Wars Cantina".
It is actually quite good, and I want whatever CD is playing. Because it amuses me.

These past few days have been a flurry of paperwork and emails. I swear, the real test of getting into this school is not getting the acceptance letter, it's whether you can figure out the paperwork. As Mum said, if I'm this confused, what are the 17 year olds going through?
I asked about whether I need to buy a new laptop if I already have one; I got a reply asking what I had. I answered, and this was their reply (part thereof):
Wow a Sony Vaio - the little ones are very cool.
*giggles* I'm going to call my laptop "Little One" from now on. :D
...I just realised that that could sound very wrong in the wrong context. Like, "I'm going to go play with my little one now..." xD
The person I asked was also very sweet and warned me about notebook theft and security. Seems like a friendly guy; too bad I think he's the head of Biotechnology. The head of Biomedical Sciences is "out of the office till 2/4/07". Considering school starts on the 16th...!
On that note, I find it highly frustrating that they will not give me my bloody timetable till the 14th! I have classes to arrange! Jobs to get fired from! People to be replaced by! Salary to lose! Uh...yeah. Heh. :) On a more serious note, though, I do need to know what my schedule is so I know how much I can take on. I mean, if I'm going to be in school from 8 to 8 every day, I'm not even going to try to work. Overwork has never been my favoured method of suicide.
And I really do need to know as soon as possible, so I can scramble and find replacements for the kids I have to give up. Anyone want to teach Primary School English, Math and/or Science? Or Absolute Beginners' English 101?

I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon (that I was 15 minutes late for, and my parents were there - early, no less *wince*), and all I have to say about it is:
EEEEEEEEEK.
I have a set of dates and papers and things to keep straight for school, and my poor brain was already feeling rather stuffed. Toss the things that come with this new complication in, and it's currently lurching around like a headless zombie.
Especially since it looks like I'm going to be skipping work the entirety of next week. Which might precipitate matters as far as quitting goes, anyway.
OMG my threadless order has FINALLY been shipped. Two weeks after I ordered. They're really not winning any points with their customer service. Darn it, just as I go to write a nice, ranty complaint email, they have to negate the point. Grrr.
I've been reading the other Madeleine L'Engle books (other than the Time Quartet, that is) and rather enjoying them. I need to figure out exactly what the Tallis Canon sounds like now.
*dies* I went searching for it, and the first result I turned up was a fic by a writer I knew for Sirius/Remus fic, and while trawling through her pages I turned up a House/Firefly crossover. I think I love this writer. xD
"Okay, why are we all talking like John Wayne on acid?" House interrupts. He pulls a bottle of pills out of his pocket. "Did someone slip me some 'shrooms with my Vicodin?"
*DIES*
She's right though, House would probably kill to have a look at River's brain.
But OMG, House tripping on magic mushrooms. That's really scary.
Speaking of drugs, one of my really weak English students got this Anti-Drug activity book thing from his school, and being a lazy brat, he basically wanted me to give him the answers. I glanced through it, pointed out that they's already given him the answers ("go to this website") and told him I wasn't going to help. However, my attention was caught by the word scramble puzzle, where they had what looked like, at first glance, pictures of random powders with the scrambled words.
So, why is an Anti-Drug phamplet showing them exactly what these tempting, illegal substances look like, conveniently displayed next to their street name? >.< Very smart, yup.
Oh, I do know this song after all. Though I never can remember where I heard it, and I'm most familiar with the words of the last verse - from The Secret Garden, actually.
Even whistled it sounds like a hymn. Which it is, of course.
I had all of three hours' sleep last night. I'm tired.
I don't really want to go dancing.
