My first attempt at the new style of *ahem* acquisition *ahem* worked, and I watched House, M.D. Season 3, episodes 1-3 tonight. There're a couple of problems with the download, but none of them are overly serious, the worst being a 10 second break in the middle of the third episode, but it's during a scene transition anyway. (According to the transcript, I missed two lines. *shrugs* Mild House snark, in other words I don't really miss much. :D) Of course, I haven't seem the last 7, so I don't know if that's really the worst.
The last episode in particular amused me no end with its opening of some scientist in a lab cutting up mice (for cancer research, incidentally) and then suddenly seizing up and falling to the floor, and the mouse he was about to cut up climbing up onto him. What is that, a warning to the Evil Mad Scientists out there? Beware, if you persist in cutting up small, cute, furry animals, for one day karma in the form of the Death of Lab Mice [1] will come back to bite you on the arse lip?
And in case you can't tell, I just read Terry Pratchett's Reaper Man again. I love Pratchett. Though I have to admit I got somewhat sick of him after reading something like thirty of his books in a row, way back when I first discovered him.
Incidentally, Ezra Powell, (the textbook writer and patient in the 3rd episode), was played by Joel Grey. I stopped the playback and gibbered for a while. *wry grin* Of course, since he was drowning in his own plasma in the episode, to summarise House's very colouful description, he certainly wasn't doing any singing, but. Heh. :D
Oh, and aww, poor House, he got his legs back for all of two episodes.
I'm not sure if I like how cynical everyone's being this season. Cameron and Wilson especially. Wilson's backbone seems to have overgrown and become a House bone, because he's actually starting to rival House for manipulativeness and insensitivity. Which is a bit scary.
I think I about died when Cameron suggested tagging the foreign DNA 'the same [as] when we search for cancer'. I think that was the first time I thought of something before they did, and heck, I even got it right! To quote Gwen: "Haha, LOLZ!"
My favourite line of the night has to be Chase's: "Hey Foreman! Yo mamma so fat, when her BP goes up, people think she's backing up!"
House's "Oh no! You take Alpha Centauri, Foreman can look on Tattooine and Cameron can set up an intergalactic checkpoint...let's pray he hasn't gone into hyperdrive. Never catch him." is a close second, though. xD
All in all, an amusing night, even if it didn't start out too well.
[1] If there IS a Death of Lab Rats, it's probably a franchise by itself, with major branches in China, America and Europe...goodness knows the scientific community goes through enough of them...xD I wonder if he says SQUEAK, or if he's somehow mutated, after so much breeding and living with scientists, and can talk? Maybe he even uses scientific terms...okineedtoshutupNOW
