All morning the only thing I've seen, besides my whooping Aaron at Mario Kart twice, are thousands of facebook notifications about last night's thunderstorm. Now, I sleep with my window open, you'd think I would have heard enough of a boom to wake me up, especially since friends from all over the bay, Pleasanton, Oakland, San Jose, and the City have reported waking up in the middle of the night to lay awake and listen to the thunder shake their room. I'm rather pissed because I love thunder and thunderstorms. So much. But the 4 hours of Cha-Cha I performed yesterday for Hairpsray must have tired me out. Speaking of dancing, I'm finally getting comfortable with the dances I've learned so far. I've never been much of a natural dancer, and I'm pretty nervous about getting the spotlight in Nicest Kids In Town. I'm not used to 20 women swooning and crowding around me while I sing a solo and dance, but I'm getting used to it.*
The last weekend I was home, I had use my dad's computer to print out a 5 page paper I wrote on Female Gender Roles in America. This morning I received an email from him saying that I was, in his words, a good writer. I've always been a bit at odds with my dad regarding academia... he's got a doctorate in physics and writes technical papers for a living. To get even a short compliment from him has done wonders for my self esteem. I'm starting to feel pretty confident in college writing.
