Alanna came back to her room, tired and in no mood for suprises but found one on her desk. Upon closer inspection, it wasn't one, it was quite a few packages, wrapped up in papper so as to conceal their contents. Alanna stared at them and wondered how they got there, then she saw the half burnt candle and the everything fell in to place.
The first package was from George. It contained a small dagger and a hastily written note. Alanna, for the next time the zombie things attack. George. Alanna carefully hid it in her room.
The next package was from Gary and contained a rather long letter that on closer inspection turned out to be a list of guests invited to a recent party, what they had worn, and what food they had to eat. The body of it was most certainly not in Gary's hand, but on the bottom, he had added his own little note, Are you having this much fun at school, Alan? - Gary.
Three packages, one from Jon, one from Sir Myles, and one from Raoul, contained pastires, pies, and all other manner of food stolen from the kitchen's. Also, two bags of gold, from Jon and Sir Myles. Alanna guiltly glanced at the half eaten salad on her desk and the collection of lemon pastries.
The letter from Sir Myles informed her that he would infact be visiting 'Alan' during Parent Weekend. Alan had been left in quotes and left Alanna with a distinct feeling of dread in her stomach. The note from Jon simply told said that he was glad to hear that she was all right and that he would write more later. Raoul was leaving Chorus in a few days.
A final package from her brother contained a set of purple candles. Thom hadn't even bothered to write more than his name on the included note.
Alanna gathered together her newly aquired food and deposited most of it in the refrigerator. The notes she carefully put in the drawer with the rest of the letters she had recieved. The candles were put in another drawer, with the two remaining candles.
Feeling suddenly lonely, Alanna locked the door to her room and went to count down the days to Parent Weekend.
