Oxford thoughts and dinners

So went to the St. Cross Garden Party and Croquet on the Lawn this afternoon. What we thought would be a nice party for a couple hours, turned into a full out five hour event. It was so chilly that my housemate and some other friends we had made escaped into St Cross and into our smaller common room to play on the Wii. After a while, we were joined by five super cute and friendly guys. Then, two guys and I started talking politics and I was in heaven. One was super super cute and Danish! I hope to meet him again (and yes - this sounds so fifth grade).

Later headed out for dinner with our mentor groups. In the cafe a man comes and taps my shoulder and introduces himself. It was Chris. He's another Politics St Crosser and he and I have been chatting on fbook for months. And the awesomest thing is that he is super nice in real life. I really like making new friends.

But one thing that rubbed me wrong today was that we were talking about the colleges, and one person mentioned that my college wasn't that rich or famous. I tend to forget that Britain is still very class based and that people still care about "names" associated with their degree. I mean - we all got into Oxford - so why the fuck does it matter if you got into Merton or Christchurch. Really - my work is just as good... even if I didn't go to those places. Sorry - but ranting helps me deal with this stupidity.

Must go - super tired - my voice hurts from talking at the parties - and I need to get some sleep
