My poem "The Dryad, on Marrying the Oak" has been accepted for the first issue of Through the Gate. This new magazine, edited by
mitchell_hart founder of inkscrawl, is slated to appear in August.
I wrote this poem sitting on a porch in Tennessee this past March, the day before my wedding. Meditating on love, marriage, and the passage of time, a line from the third stanza came to me first: "in these mountains, past sweetness, I am of the loon and the kingfisher". Which ended up edited of course, but the rest grew from there.
It turned out more lovely than I'd hoped, and more thoughtful. I hope others agree.
