After the card failed to arrive in Toronto for 2 days running, the customer service woman (who had cancelled my card in the first place,) decided to send the card to me in Berlin. It was hard to find Internet access, so this is going to be quick. I arrived in Germany no problem, and am super-excited to be here! I love the city, there's so much stuff going on. So the day before I fly to Europe for 2 weeks, I call Scotiabank (this morning) to inform them I will be using my debit card abroad, so please don't freeze my account like you did the last time and left me stranded with no access to money and totally freaking out. Day 1 in Boston. This involved a 4:20am wakeup to catch an early flight. Despite this, I still managed to miss my plane at Pearson. When travelling to the States from Toronto, you have to go through US customs while still in Toronto before boarding the plane, and the lineup was insanely long. Well, it's been an exciting week. I came back to Toronto on Wednesday to see Vik, and drove back up on Friday morning with Laurence and Amy, who had just got back from Europe. The drive up from Toronto was uneventful. During my first few days, I've seen 3 chipmunks, thousands of stars, a Milky Way, 2 fish, a heron, numerous sightings of a cheerful ferret, 3 ospreys, 2 hawks of some kind, and 4 satellites. No loons yet, or frogs or water snakes. I went swimming today and test-drove the new bikini. It stayed on, happily. ( Read more... )
