2:3 Artistic violence! Battered copper & distressed Sellotape...

Feb 05, 2007 12:25

Last week's work: forged copper pendants. I had a great deal of fun hitting them.

I also made some thinner silver ones in the square shape, but forgot to include them in the photo. Sadly I can't claim to have either the talent or the patience to have sawed the copper shapes out - I bought them as a packet of undrilled enamelling blanks. The idea appealed greatly to my classmates however, so I promised to give them the URL for the Homecrafts online shop I bought them from.

I also did some more painting-on of etching resist and will have a play with the dried pieces this week.

Sellotape lifting newspaper ink has always been an annoyance in my books, but no longer! Something I learnt this weekend for my papercrafts - how to make mini-transparencies using sellotape (OK, it seems kinda obvious once you think about it, but I can't say I ever did).

Excellent for all those mini-photos that newspapers are so fond of. The below was one of my first attempts - Scotch Invisible Tape with the 'Band of Brothers' DVD cover. It seems a good technique for 'distressed' artwork.
