For those of you just tuning in, Mikale is the eldest simchild of my elfthing, Christopher, and Sari's chimaera, Ianto. Mikale has none of the what are normally considered "good" traits. Like Christopher, he's a loner and hopeless romantic. Like Ianto, he's family oriented and a coward. Unlike any of his siblings, he has no artistic traits, rounding out his personality with a love of the outdoors instead. Basically, Mikale loves to spend his time exploring the wilderness alone, just as long as he can get home to his family and that special someone before dark.
Mikale is afraid of ghosts. You'd think he'd be used to them by now. After all, his half-sister married one.
But no, the first time he saw his sister-in-law, he fainted.
So how come his high school sweetheart was a ghost? Because I'm evil.
Okay, not really. Mikale and Jamison got together without any prompting from me. You see, Sims 3 does not handle playable ghosts properly. If they aren't part of the active household, they act like regular ghosts, only they're out during the day and have jobs and families and such. This means they can do things like invite themselves over and can't be asked to leave like a normal guest.
Jamison was the baby from
this family and is about a week older than Mikale. Ianto owns every possible business in town, and one of the mods I use makes him the boss of any sims working there. Louis would come over during the day to try and improve his relationship with his boss, Jamison in tow. Ianto would see the ghosts and faint. Louis thought this was hilarious, so he'd drop Jamison off in the nursery so he could stalk Ianto properly. This meant Jamison and Mikale were best friends by the time they were children, and cowards aren't afraid of ghosts they're friendly with.
The first thing Mikale wanted to do after aging up to teen was fall in love. The second thing he wished for was to kiss Jamison. So I had him invite Jamison out to the park and left them to their own devices.
"He followed me home. Can I keep him?"
Jamison would frequently invite himself over after school.
A frequent sight in the Keylar-Maroch household.
And, of course, I invited him to everyone's birthday parties. Whether they liked it or not.
Honestly Zach, you're supposed to be the charming one.
By the time Mikale was ready to move out, I'd become quite attached to both him and Jamison. Rather than just leave them to the mercies of Story Progression (which also has trouble with playable ghosts), I decided to pack up copies of Mikale, Jamison, Mikale's half-sisters, their families, and a few random folks from town and place them in a player created world.
To maintain the family links, I had to bring Ianto and Christopher along. We've already established that they would happily populate the town all by themselves, so I aged them to death immediately.
The only non-playable ghosts in town.
Death didn't change Ianto much.
