Adventures in Neverglade - Getting Settled

Apr 25, 2010 17:33

I spent a couple of months testing out various player made towns (worlds) until I found one that was just right. Neverglade is very clearly a labour of love. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous, with a dark, damp, feel to it that reminds me of the Northern California coast. There are a few minor issues, but none that are unworkable. I tested it for about a week then moved my families in.

Ha! Like it was really that easy. First I had to mess up about half a dozen times packing people up. Then the town ate all the playable ghosts, including Jamison. After about 5 hours I was ready to quit the game again, but I decided to give it one more go. And this time, it worked.

I settled the boys into a large mountain home on the outskirts of town, then spent most of the rest of their seed money redecorating it to suit mytheir needs. Which meant no honeymoon. Oops.

Since Jamison's lifetime wish is to be a world renowned surgeon, he went to work and Mikale spent a week playing housewife, setting up the garden, and working on a novel so they could earn a little money. After a week, they'd brought in enough I felt comfortable sending them to France. They had just enough for the vacation fee, a nectar press, a tent, a camera, and some minor shopping.

First things first, Mikale earns visa points faster due to some lifetime rewards, so I sent him tomb raiding.

He didn't like it very much.

Once Mikale had been thoroughly traumatisedincreased his visa level, I let him go back to the hotel to actually enjoy his honeymoon.

Jamison did his best to comfort his poor, shaken husband.

Then I let them do whatever they wanted for the rest of their vacation.

Which had the predictable result.

"Ugh... I think I caught some nasty foreign disease."

Mikale is very reserved, so it can sometimes be hard to tell what he's thinking. That said, I think he was at least a little excited at the prospect of becoming a daddy.

Maybe. Just a bit.

Between the move and the trip, the family was broke. They could pay their taxes off Jamison's salary, but only just. And now they needed to buy baby stuff, so Mikale got a job in the cooking career. I figure he shouldn't need to keep it long and then they'll have the super fridge that never lets food spoil.

Mikale was at work when Jamison went into labour. Being a doctor, and a couch potato, he decided to have the baby in the relative comfort of his own living room.

He spent a few quiet moments marveling at his son before cleaning up the mess from labour.

"Well hello there."

Mikale ran upstairs to the nursery as soon as he got home.

And life went back to some semblance of normal.

Needless to say, there's a lot of love in this household. Even the fish are in on it.
