I always have the day and date on the whiteboard in my hallway at home. I don't always remember what day of the week it is, especially now that I'm retired. And there, as well as in private notes & the like, I like to use a date notation that captures the full date, including four-digit year, in four alphanumeric characters - not for computer ( Read more... )

I generally put a border around the date on my whiteboard. I may make it more or less fancy, and I usually try not to reuse a border pattern, at least not soon. Here's what I had up for today. The dots in and above the letters of the word "Shabbat" are part of the Hebrew script.

That is:

• Friday
• November 25, '11 (yymmdd)
• November 25, 2011 (hhyymmdd)

The four-letter code is my az10 mnemonic code. As we're still in the first third of the century, it's easy: t, k, and y are the 20th, 11th, and 25th letters of the alphabet, so tkky = 20 11 - 11 - 25.

But yesterday was tkky day!
