Today is the first day of the annual Badwater Ultramarathon. I've mentioned it in this journal before. It's a road race, 135 miles across Death Valley in July. It is considered the most demanding road race in the world, for good reason. Today's expected high is 114 degrees. Most of it is a gradual uphill (the race ends at Mount Whitney). I've been doing more writing again, though you couldn't tell from LJ. I've been working on several writing projects at work, both personal and professional. Over the last weekend, when the weather was absolutely gorgeous, rosepurr spent much of the time outside, at Cheekwood or coffee shops, writing in the sunshine. Glorious ( Read more... )

Last week was chaos. Most good, some bad, steadily improving as the week progressed.

Of course, here it is Wednesday of the following week before I've had opportunity to write it down so I suppose this one is crazy, too.

If you haven't read Born to Run, you should. But here the author gives a lecture of some of the more interesting anthropological thoughts from the book. Good stuff.

Fall Break/WorkHere, the students and faculty have off during the week of Thanksgiving. So I walk into quiet halls, but a pretty full library this morning. Of course, it's not time off for us here at the library. In fact, no one's really off.
