I was feeling a bit negative yesterday, but I slept really well last night and suddenly I'm feeling a lot brighter. Just goes to emphasise how much mood responds to lack of sleep. I hope you all slept well, too.
Good morning!
So being in such a positive mood, let's talk dystopia.
10. Do you enjoy dystopian future books/movies?
Not at the moment. There is enough dystopian future going on in the real world right now *g*
Seriously, like the disaster movie genre in the 70s, it's become a bit overworked and tired as a scenario. I've read a few good ones - classics like A Canticle for Leibowitz, 1984 (thank you
hobbituk for the reminder) and Brave New World, but as a genre it seems to have taken over the YA market, at least for books to be made into films. I am not interested in The Hunger Games, or The Maze Runner, or any of those others. From what I've seen from the back covers and/or the film summaries they are all much of a muchness. That's understandable. The idea of the victim fighting back or the lone hero taking on 'The Machine' speaks to the young person's developing sense of themselves.
As a genre, it's not one I'd go looking for.
And the rest of my catch-up.
11. Do you have any recurring dreams?
No, although I do have a recurring type of dream - one in which I am walking around a town that I know well. Not always the same town. I am not looking for anything, but I am hurrying to get to somewhere. There is usually nobody else on the streets, but sometimes I will meet someone I used to know.
12. Do you like to be the centre of attention?
Absolutely not!
13. What would you miss if you stopped using your smartphone for 48 hours?
I wouldn't care really. I left my phone at a friend's house once and so didn't have it for four days, until I went and picked it up. *shrugs* So not a problem.
The rest of the year's questions can be found under the cut
on the first post of the year. Unlike me, it's a dull and overcast day today, but I'm snug indoors and I am planning to stay here. Have a lovely day, all.
