Zooey vs Scarlett • Battle Of The Actors
Back in the 90s, the Aussie's started a trend by sending out their hottest young actresses from (their only good TV soap) Neighbours, to forge shiny new singing careers. Kylie Minogue led the pack, followed by Natalie Imbruglia, Holly Valance and Delta Goodrem, to varying degrees of success.
Now it's Hollywood's turn, most notably Zooey Deschanel and Scarlett Johansson, and the similarities between the two couldn't be more obvious! Both Hollywood starlets have hooked up with already established male musicians to showcase their musical abilities. Both sing 50s/60s style indie folk/pop with classic, old-time sounding vocals. And both wear pretty dresses on stage in commemoration of more simpler, wholesome times... But there's some big differences too...

One difference to She & Him, is that Pete Yorn sings quite a bit in their album, which makes for a nice balance vocally.

Personally I really like both of these hotties as actresses AND as musicians. While I may prefer Scarlett & Pete's album on the whole, Zooey gets props for writing her own songs and actually playing some instruments!
