Much has been made of the apparent fact that a sizable majority of African Americans in California voted Yes on Prop 8. The issue is a complex one with many grey areas. Which state will have the highest voter turnout today? In 2004, a year with higher than average turnout, the state with the highest voter percentage was Minnesota at 76.7%. My new home State of Oregon was fifth with 70.6%.

This was the top 10:

1. Minnesota - 76.7%
2. Wisconsin - 73%
3. Maine - 72%
4. North Dakota - 70.8%
5. Oregon - 70.6%

A recent Pew Research Center study reveals that viewers of the Daily Show and/or Colbert Report are the most informed TV viewers out there, as well as those who get their news from the web. More than a third of Americans support "some" torture.More than 27,000 people in 25 countries were asked if torture would be acceptable if it could provide information to save innocent lives.
