Weeks ago, our friends Chris and Yuri started restoring a house here in Five Points. They removed a brick chimney and gave away all of the bricks. Andy and I didn't hesitate to go get a truck bed FULL of bricks to use as garden paths. We're determined to have a kick-ass yard that won't cost us an arm and a leg...and free bricks definitely help ( Read more... )

We've been walking more...basically anytime it's nice outside. I love all of the early Spring blossoms, and get excited to see new sprouts on winter twigs. I'm hoping it will be nice on one of our off days and I can take out the Mamiya. My dad passed me down that camera and I've been so anxious to use it!

As the Summer season winds down, it will be sad to see some of my favorite plants hibernate until next year. While we definitely didn't get everything checked off of our 'garden to-do' list, we had a pretty good harvest all in all. Hopefully we can prep more this fall and winter for an even bigger garden next year!

We are actually int he midst of Hardcore Spring Cleaning. I'm talking cleaning out boxes and every drawer, nook, and cranny and getting stuff together for a yard sale. We are actually taking a break for a bit to cool off. Remember, no central air here and the window unit does nothing when your pulling stuff out from under the bed and inside ( Read more... )

Andy and I have been diligently working in the garden. We have a lot more time this year than we did last year...at least it feels that way. We have been getting up around 7am to do any planting or weeding, so everything can get watered before the midday sun hits.

A couple of Mondays ago Andy and I went to Bennett Nurseries! It was SUCH a nice day out, and it was a perfect time to get some new plants.
