its not the heat, its the humidity

Yesterday i was sitting in my office and I realized how comfortable the temperature was inside since it was ungoly hot outside. It was odd though because if I'm comfortable, that must mean its relatively warm in the office. Then I noticed all of my co-workers had suddenly gotten fans in their offices. And guess what? It appears the air conditioning is not working in our office! Of course calling maintenance appears to do nothing and its still warm in here this morning. I can walk about 10 feet outstide of our office into another building and its beautifully cool there so lucky us, its just our office and/or building.

It reminded me of last summer when the air conditioning at my workplace did not work at all. Just like my current workplace, it wasn't the whole office, just the part where I sat. We tried talking to the person in charge of the office maintenance, we started complaining, we got angry and still nothing was done. I felt bad for all of my co-workers (all post-menapausal women who were really really hot) but especially my favorite co-worker, who was going through a difficult pregnancy and was so hot. Even I was miserable by the end of the day. It was so hot, it was hard to even think.

Mostly I wonder how its been just my luck that when I moved to a much warmer climate 2 years ago, I got to work in two offices with sketchy air conditioning. Its like living in Minnesota and the heat not working (oh wait! I think that happened to me too). I wonder how long its going to take for me to adjust to heat/humidity of STL.
