She looked more like she was about to charge off into battle than she did like she was about to go catch flowers.
"Always," she said.

Doing his best not to look awkward, Pip let out a small sigh as he spoke. "Y'know, you don't have to be so serious. It's just a contest." Albeit one with (hopefully) a lot of prize money for grabs. It would really help their cause.

Her stony gaze never faltered. She was just...extremely competitive.

And yet he was sitting in the passenger seat behind Rikku, a pair of flying goggles set firmly over his eyes, clutching a basket and trying with all his strength not to think about how high up Zangetsu would shortly be.
"You're sure about this?" he called to Rikku around the basket. If she gave up now, he could at least save face before he ran back to the safety of the ship...

And with that, the signal was given and they were off. "Remember," she yelled over the roar of the engine. "Don't stand up! I don't wanna explain to people why I letcha fall out!"

And then a gust of wind caught him in the face and he closed his mouth and concentrated on the flowers. The job was more difficult than it first appeared - the wind blew the blossoms around and lifted them out of the basket, and Watanuki's concentration was broken repeatedly by remembrance of the distance between him and the ground.

For one, he reminded himself to be on the lookout for flesh-eating flowers to pass along to Dimo, even if he was still somewhat hesitant to actually go after it actively. Better safe then sorry; it would be pretty embarrassing if he was taking out by a flower in the middle of the contest.

Speaking of her catcher... Rukia ran up to him, holding the goggles atop her head in place with a hand, and a broad smile plastered on her face. "Well, ready to go?"

"Hell, yeah. Other then win, got any tips for me before we take off?"

He had the engine going, waiting for Yukiko to arrive with the basket. Other then getting to fly again, it was great to see his friend again after almost a year.

With the basket in her hands, she quickly walked over to Souji's plane once she found it. She was excited and nervous at the same time, but happy to see her friend again, giving him a smile and a wave.

"Rode in many planes before?"

"Have you been enjoying the festival so far?"

Nena readjusted her goggles and gloves, waiting patiently for the signal to take off. Small, sleek and dark maroon, her Liang wasn't flashy like some of the other planes, but it was quick and she knew it well. It also had two seats, making it perfect for the challenge ahead. She... she believed in it, if she was going to be perfectly honest.
No, not just in her plane. In her partner, and in herself as well. They could win this ( ... )

"All right." The blonde nodded, looking around as quickly as she could. She'd left Emily in the ship because she'd otherwise be recognized as Sara Cruz, not Ayako Kawasumi, but she had enough confidence in Nena to win even without her.

Okay, it looked like a lot of flowers were falling in an area a little east from their current position. Intending to head there, the pilot began to turn the plane.
“Have you got the basket ready?” It was probably best if she held off on using any names for the moment.
