PIP AND ERZA AKA REDHEADS AHOY coyotealpha August 5 2010, 08:13:42 UTC
...well, here he was. Pip was initially somewhat reluctant to join this, but no thanks to some of the people on the ship and after some internal debate, he was here now out in the open (somewhat; he listed himself under his usual alias just to play safe) with his somewhat new plane in tow. Apache had been destroyed along with his base in the attack that claimed his men those months ago, so the man was forced to get a new plane - this one now ensured that it could hold two people. Sleek and powerful, Vidonifr (as Pip decided to name it) was one of the better models of this time and age ( ... )

Erza's face was set like stone, in a serious demeanour. She was dressed in a practical pilot's outfit, goggles in place over her eyes.

She looked more like she was about to charge off into battle than she did like she was about to go catch flowers.

"Always," she said.

There was a good pause as the man just kind of had to... stare at the other a little - from the outfit to the serious look on her face, it was really...

Doing his best not to look awkward, Pip let out a small sigh as he spoke. "Y'know, you don't have to be so serious. It's just a contest." Albeit one with (hopefully) a lot of prize money for grabs. It would really help their cause.

Erza pierced him with her gaze, and arched an eyebrow. "I don't follow," she said. "Of course it's just a contest. What's your point?"

Her stony gaze never faltered. She was just...extremely competitive.

"..." Pip paused again, trying to find something to respond to that but found himself not really being able to say anything at all. Eventually all he could do was to sigh again and resist the urge of scratching his head. "...right, whatever you say, Erza." He supposed it was a fruitless attempt in the first place.

Turning back to the front, the man directed his plane towards the starting line, tugging down the goggles to over his eyes properly. He would really kind of want a smoke about now, but it probably wasn't the best of ideas. Besides, the woman behind him would most likely kill him if he did.

Naturally. Smoking was a filthy habit, and she didn't need it blowing in her face.

"Remember," she said, "my reach with the length of the net handle is about one point four six meters. If you aren't that close to a cluster of blossoms, you're wasting time and money."

One point four six... merde, how ze hell am I supposed to even know how exactly is that? Okay so sure, he could probably do a rough judgement and everything, but it was still going to be hard to do regardless. Seriously, with the way Erza was going around this, one might just think this was a Very Important Mission. Which he supposed kind of was, a little. They really did need the money - as much as they could get - but still... seesh.

Trying his best not to sigh for the third time in a row, Pip started up his plane as the announcer for the event started to do his/her usual babble and all that jazz. Two minutes later, the signal for the event to start had began, and the mercenary wasted no time to bringing up his plane into the skies.

Erza grimaced as her ears popped during the takeoff. She always had a trouble with her sinuses during rapid ascent.

her eyes sought out the nearest cloud of pink petals, and she pointed to it. "There! Take us in close."

"Closin' in!" the man confirmed as he turned the plane around with expert ease and started to bring them closer towards the cloud. Flowers were falling, alright - loads and loads of them, and it'd be best if they could get as much as possible from all of this.

Over the rumble of the engines and the whirl of the propellers, Pip shouted out towards his companion. "Alright, its up to you now, Erza!" he went before fully whirling under the cloud and petals began to fall everywhere on them properly.

Erza nodded and swung the net upwards, catching a bunch of pink blossoms in its weave. It wasn't good enough for her, though; they were much dense higher up.

"Take us up!" she ordered.

"Got it!" Pip hollered back in turn, tightening the hold he had on his wheel as the man pulled the plane up to rise higher into the sky, wincing slightly at the popping in his ears. Maybe he should have invested in one of those nice-looking pilot caps...

Well, that could be thought about after this was done with. The man made sure to keep the plane steady as he levelled it properly, making sure it was steady enough not to throw either of them off as a shower of petals and flowers flew across and towards them.
