He recognized that voice instantly. Rather than answer out loud, however, Hibari opted to peek in from the corridor, giving Gintoki his customary raised eyebrow.

What was the other man doing up? He knew, of course, that Gintoki wasn't nearly as indolent or lazy as he came off to be, but Hibari ALSO knew that the silver-haired man would take any good opportunity to rest once he had it.

"I have no reason not to."

Hibari stepped into full view, and then moved through the door, inviting himself just beyond the threshold separating Gintoki's room from the corridor. Not quite inside, but not quite outside of it either.

"Comics again?"

A normal Hibari Reaction would have been a scoff and a scathing remark - it was how he dealt with most meddling idiots in his life. It was how he stayed on top of things.

Suffice to say, how Hibari reacted next - a scoff that was closer to a sigh and him turning away - was Not Normal.

Yes, it was. It was a nuisance, getting tied down. Feeling. Needing.

A subject change was in order.

"It has been months, has it not? Since we ended things."

"Smoking."

Curt, and also not quite an answer. Typically Hibari, perhaps.

"It has when it is far more interesting than talking."

Or admitting to things that he didn't want to admit to, or deal with yet. Pesky things, emotions.
