Hibari had reported in for a leave and gone off the ship as soon as his security shift was over - he had been deliberately vague on the records regarding his reasons, of course, as he was wont to be. No need to spill everything about what he did in his spare time to his crewmates. Besides, it really wasn't any of their business.
As such, after spending Quality Time with the wife, he was returning to the Convoy just a little after dinner, walking in from the hangar deck - he had wanted to check up on his plane, as per usual. After making sure that the thing was still there (Olivier's one attempt at stealing it was enough to make him check for it religiously, every morning and evening), the pilot made a beeline for the lift, ready to head up to his room and call it a night. No evening shift for him this time; well and good.
