Characters: Gintoki Sakata, Maes Hughes
Content: Hughes has a word with Gintoki about his conduct during the cactuar battle, only he has other things to worry about now.
Setting: Winding Way deck, where things need to be fixed again.
Time: Mid morning.
Warnings: Well... Gintoki?

Hughes had nothing against plants, really; he liked his vegetables, he made sure his daughter ate HER greens, and all in all vegetables were a wonderful thing, especially when one had nothing to eat in the battlefield. He also didn't have anything against monsters, because they were really just overgrown, thrice as scary and very hungry animals. This said, Hughes absolutely hated cactuars.

The great big problem Hughes had with cactuars was that they had needles, and when they died on the decks of ships, they couldn't be moved without first scratching said deck of the ship. The boatswain had taken to literally ripping out the needles from one side of cactuar corpses to turn then around before proceeding to drag them off to the side of the ship, where they went falling off to the empty space below. All to avoid getting the deck scratched, because damn if he'd add to the damages.

A dozen or so corpses later and Hughes felt that he deserved a bit of rest. His hands were sore from constantly yanking needles out, and the sun was hot on his back. The thing was, he didn't much feel like resting because the latest news in the network had left him with a very bad, uneasy taste in his mouth. Like he wanted to go home and hug his wife and daughter, and maybe catch a few criminals here and there. He had a lot of energy to waste.

So he made his way to the other side of the deck to look for Gintoki, because he remembered about the Gintoki's conduct the other day and really, that wouldn't do. Lax as the rules in the Winding Way was, when the boatswains and other officers gave a distinct order, they were meant to be followed. What if Gintoki had died under his and Zeetha's combined watches?

"Gintoki," he called as he padded his way over, expression carefully blank though his brows furrowed to the middle and there was an unhappy curve to his mouth.

≠ sakata gintoki, ≠ maes hughes
