It was just another ordinary day in Bellcius.
Hijikata bit back a yawn that threatened to escape him as the boatswain walked in the city. It was a rare case for him to travel in the city since it only did nothing but remind him of his past here - he'd rather stay in his apartment near the docks if it was absolutely necessary that he had to be off the ship. Which was the case this time : the Victoria II had to be taken in for repairs (much to the captain's and first mate's displeasure over the situation) so the crew was given shore leave until the vessel was fixed.
Pretty good timing too, considering how the latest Steel Samurai novel was released.
The man ignored the looks being sent at him as he walked in the city was the sword at his hip. It wasn't as if it wasn't allowed or anything; most men in the military tended to carry weapons with them, but most of them carried guns, not swords. Guns were much more flexible and dealt more damage after all. Hijikata could care less though - his sword was more than enough to do the work. Nobody complained as well.
Deciding to take a shortcut to the bookstore to get the novel (because dammit he wanted to get that as soon as possible before that silver-haired bastard), the officer turned around the alley in the next corner to enter one of the shadier parts of Bellcius. Most people wouldn't usually think of entering this place so casually, but Hijikata had came to this place far too often, back when he was a child. He could still remember the twists and turns and the danger zones to protect himself - and if worse came to worse, he could always defend himself now, and the government couldn't do anything about it. Justified self-defence and all that, after all. That thought in mind, Hijikata walked down the path, his mind thinking of the novel that would be in his hand soon.
