BEAST ON FRONT DECK paddyperformer January 23 2009, 05:00:10 UTC
Dee was making her way to the top deck, minding her own business and trying to get a hold of one of her relatives through the network. Her brother had already ignored her calls, her dad was probably off in some old man gang, and the other two...well, they were worthless anyway. The only chance Dee had was with her mom.

"But, Mom! You have money. Send me a ship to get me out of here! You send Dennis money all the time, and I'm your only daughter.

"...what do you mean I was an accident, Mom? Dennis and I are twinsWhen she reached top deck, Dee finally realized how long she had been running. She dropped the device she was carrying upon being impacted with the strong, cold wind. "Goddammit it's cold up here!" She had hoped her exclamation might alert some of her crew mates to her presence and get a few of them to come to her aid, but it didn't seem like she was that lucky. "What is that horrible sound ( ... )

There was undoubtedly the sound of things breaking from within the ship due to either the large thumping and thrashing around of the beasts. Even their terrible roars had certainly shattered any glass near it--somehow it seemed these things in either had gotten on this ship. Either way, Hanekoma had found his way to the front deck--after all, he heard some ruckus in this direction ( ... )

Dee was vaguely aware of the girl who had joined her on the deck, but only enough to mourn that it was just her luck that on a ship full of soldiers, she had to run into a beast with the only one on the ship who looked just as helpless as her. But, then she noticed something glowing around the girl's neck. "DO SOMETHING!" Dee roared. It seemed the only chance she had now was that the beast might find the other girl to look more appetizing ( ... )

From some ways away, settled against a wall to steady himself, Ryo had the creature in his sights. The three had magic to protect them, he only had his guns. The act of summoning Shiva seemed to have caught one of the creature's attention. Ryo grit his teeth and took a shot at one of it's eyes. He missed, just barely. A very unattractive word passed his lips and Ryo raised his gun once again.

The creature jerked with the impact of the bullet but it did not seem to slow it down. "Get away! Hide!" Ryo shouted at the two women, setting the man go down. He let out another shot into the monster's face. It growled and screamed, jumping towards him. Ryo darted to the side and got tangled up in his gun in the process. He had to dump his heaviest weapon to get away. He swore again and raised his pistol, taking shot after shot until the magazine was empty. The monster didn't seem to even slow down.

He stopped and prayed for enough time to reload his gun.

The monster had closed in to fifteen feet away from Ryo when another shot rang out. Phoenix Wright was standing near the stairway leading to below-deck, pistol in hand. A peculiar grin was on his face: the sort of grin one puts on when one wishes to appear confident and in-control, but really is scared out of one's wits.

"Hey, you!" the spiky-haired reporter yelled. "Yeah, you! I'm over here, you -- you overgrown gorilla!" The monster paused in its pursuit of Ryo, turning to look at this new target that was causing it pain.

There! That ought to give HIM time to reload, and the girls to escape! he thought, fighting down the fear he felt as the monster began to lumber towards him. N-n-now what?! he wondered desperately as it began to close in. He shot again, more accurately this time thanks to the shorter range. It caught the monster full in the face, but it didn't check its progress. Phoenix took a step back, pistol still at the ready.

A young girl, new to the ship, was running around with tears in her eyes, looking around for something. Where are those things!? That cat said they were on the- oh, please tell me that's a statue! A really, really scary statue! Thought Mai, the girl, as she stopped about 16 feet away from the scene. And what else? The man in front of her- wasn't he that reporter? - was drawing attention to the monster! Thankfully, he wasn't looking in her direction. Ducking back into the halls, she transformed.

Egret ran up the stairs in order to help. "Save yourself." She said, stepping in front of the reporter. Mai knew he'd object to her trying to save him, but shook it off. I have to save these people, no matter if they let me or not! She thought, magical energy forming around her feet."To those who desecrate the sacred fountains, and the Victoria II, stop your Cruel Behaivior!" She yelled authoritatively. She then jumped up and began to dive at the monster, her foot outstretched in order to kick it. What have I gotten myself into? The Pretty ( ... )

Well, it all seemed like it was now beginning to turn into some kind of party as Hanekoma saw new people enter--although it certainly was no laughing matter and even as he saw a strange girl land a hard kick on the monster he still thought it was unsafe. Unsafe for the newcomers, that is--however, in his experience the man knew that none of them would probably listen to him if he had told them to run off. Except maybe...

"Hey, you might want to get off the battlefield--not a good place for people like you, ya know?"

This speech was directed at Phoenix who nearly winded up in a bad spot just because of his actions just a short few moments ago--the monster recovered from the kick, ready to attack until he threw another energy blast into its face. Now, now, we can't be having that now can we?"Your name, sister ( ... )

"Ma- I mean, Cure Egret." The cure answered, as she readied herself to fight. She flung herself at the monster again, this time landing behind it. She jumped- I mean lunged at the Yeti, kicking it's back. She landed with a soft thud on the ground, blue energy from the kick and landing flying around. He doesn't seem to be phased at all... She thought, returning to the man who had asked her name.

"I'm sorry, is this your fight?" She asked. What a question, but one she wondered. Maybe she didn't need to be fighting and could wait for the monsters to be killed in her room? That thought blew away when the monster screamed and lunged at the two again. With no time to launch another attack, Egret hoped, and silently prayed, that the man who had blasted the monster had another trick up his sleeve.

Gai followed the banging sounds up onto the deck. The journal had said that they were under attack, and if there was one thing Gai was good at, it was fighting. It would be terribly remiss of him to pass on such an opportunity to get some exercise.

When he saw the huge creature lunge, and the people it was headed for, he dashed forward as quickly as he could, breezing past the two of them at insane speed. He leaped into the air, turning about to deliver a back kick at the thing.

Logically, it should be impossible for one man to physically halt something so huge in mid-air. But then, Might Gai was impossibly strong. The creature howled as Gai's boot connected with its face, sending it back down to the ground again.

Dee could only stare at all the mayhem going on in front of her. After the other girl summoned some kind of giant thingy, Dee had become aware that she was quite possibly the only person on the deck who would not be any help whatsoever. Which was bullshit.

Working was no fun and neither was being useless, which was odd, because that is what it seemed that Dee would strive for. This was different, though. Those other assholes were obviously stealing her spotlight. Feeling a wave of confidence brought on by her sudden jealousy, Dee started shouting at the people running around on deck. "Oh, yeah, keep kicking it. That's obviously working."

Even the monster was ignoring her now. "Goddammit!" Picking up the closes thing to her -- some giant lead ball, what the hell was that for? -- and being unable to throw it, Dee rolled the ball towards the beast, hoping to at least trip it up.

Not waiting for an answer any longer, Mai ran to the monster. She stopped short as a giant lead ball rolled over to the monster, which was about to crush an innocent bystander. Mai jumped up and dove at the monster, her leg outstretched like earlier. However, the monster saw her coming and grabbed her, throwing her back into the ship. "Ah!" She gasped in pain.

She slowly, painfully got back up(as is how all good cures get back up) and looked around to take stock on the battle. Two bystanders, one reporter, one.... passenger. There was the man who blasted the monster, another with a gun, one who had knocked the beast down in mid-air, and a woman shouting commands at a cyan woman. I hope we can protect you all... she thought quickly, before jumping up again. She dove at the monster once again, avoiding it's hand this time, kicking it square in the jaw. Smiling in accomplishment, she landed just behind the strong man.

Gai dove in again, his face set seriously for a change. It reached out to try and swat him away, but he ducked under its arm and then grabbed onto it, using it as leverage to pull himself up onto its back.

"Don't worry, sirs and madames," he said flashing his trademark grin and letting go with one hand to give a thumbs-up. "We'll have this wrapped up in a jif--WHOA!"

One of the thing's sinuous arms reached back and grabbed hold of him, pulling him off and then throwing him halfway across the deck.

When the girl had asked the second question it had suddenly gone unanswered as the rabid beast attacked the both of them; then upon the next of the events coming along, Hanekoma paused a second to cast a healing magic spell on Gai and Mai (hey, that rhymes!) as he saw that they had received a substantial amount of damage. In doing so, however, the beast had decided to take a swipe at him in order to attempt to hit him when he was standing still but actually hit air when he nimbly maneuvered himself out of the way.

Not so fast, bucko."C'mon guys, I think we pretty much got this one in the bag ( ... )
