If I had a Gun...

When I first came up with this Top Ten List idea, I felt sure that I would have some cutting edge little known artistic delights to share with everyone. But since then, on contemplation, I have realized that my artistic tastes lie in a very mainstream pool. Is that because I have not exposed myself to the artist's world lately? Possibly. As may be seen from a previous entry, I do not discount most things very easily. But I believe this taste is derived instead from the fact that ART IS DEAD. It took its last gasping breaths at the begining of the twentieth century and has slowly suffocated until this point. I would love to proved wrong. I like art. But Pollock just doesn't do this for me. Surprise, surprise. Well, here it goes, open to criticism...my Top Ten Favorite Pieces of Art... and these are in correct order.

1) Venus of Willendorf- Unkown
2) Cave paintings of Lascaux- Unknown
3) The Birth of Venus- Botticelli
4) Sunday Afternoon on the Grande Jatte- Seurat
5) School of Athens- Raphael
6) Garden of Earthly Delights- Bosch
7) Metamorphosis of Narcissus- Dali
8)
9)
10)

Awwww... screw it. I tried to do 10 but it wasn't in me. ART IS DEAD, or never was alive. These are the pieces I would display to guests in my house. I know there are pieces that I have never been exposed to and nameless pieces I am leaving out, but here you are... I hope I am wrong.

In my next list, 'The Top Ten Things I Have Rotted My Brain With'.
