Back in January, I bought a whole swathe of a very cold yellow satin for the 1920s movie star dress I wanted to make. The dress I was making for my English class went really well. Had some frustrating moments because Mom (and thus I, since she is how I learned) is used to making dresses that are "real" clothes, and this was a costume pattern which uses crazy logic in some places. Like the skirt is only _tacked_ to the bodice at the side seams and center back. ( Read more... )

I'd like to make a new costume for the next Ravenholme game. I still haven't finished (or even started) that movie star dress I posted about before, but I have everything I need for it except time.

Anyway, I'd like to replicate the costume in this painting. As I understand it, it's a quite late 16th century Hungarian portrait.
