I made something!

Back in January, I bought a whole swathe of a very cold yellow satin for the 1920s movie star dress I wanted to make. As soon as I got home, I decided that I didn't want that colour for the dress anymore. So the yellow has been sitting in my fabric pile since. A month or two ago, I decided to pair up the yellow with a dark blue and make the pattern Butterick B4377. I'd made it once before but it was my second sewing project ever and as a result, it ended too large in the bodice and the seamwork was shody.

This time, I decided I'd like to do better at fitting (the area where my sewing projects invariably fall down) so I spent a lot of effort fitting it to myself - it's still ended up a bit on the snug side, but it's a big improvement on my previous sewing. Alas, I managed to bollocks up the sleeves so I have a fairly limited range of arm movement but as long as I don't try to lift something above my head, I should be okay.

All I have left to do on this thing is the hem.

Tomorrow I'm starting my new sewing project, this time a red dress - I know it's Christmas, but I gotta do something after I've opened all my presents and finished eating...
