Regency things

nazgman was in the country over the weekend, so wonder of wonders, our little Austen-LARP gang managed to gather on short notice at Esmeralda's place on Sunday to drink tea and dance for three hours. We quickly danced through the three "official" dances for the LARP (Mr. Beveridge's Maggot, The Hole in the Wall, Upon a Summer's Day) and then refreshed our memories of The Juice of Barley, My Lord Byron's Maggot, The Geudman of Balangigh and Childgrove. Just in case they won't mind our teaching the others those dances.

After then I've mostly been fiddling with my new bonnet. I've bound the edges with some soft purplish brown twill tape (probably rayon or rayon/poly). Trims, trims, what kind of trims? Well, some silk dupioni and taffeta, to begin with. I've also bought an instruction on how to make your own silk flowers, although I'm not sure I'll have the time for that (I'll need some tools and undisturbed time for that). It's of course utterly impossible to find real silk ribbons here, so it will have to be synthetic grosgrain in the least offensive colour I could find.

I really do need to get started on the silk ball gown, if I intend to make it before the LARP. I'm just not sure about how it's supposed to look.
